Preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is a two-year program beginning in 1st Grade.
We are happy to be in partnership with your family during this time of preparation for the sacraments! The involvement of parents for children preparing to receive First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is very important. Parents are the child’s primary teachers of the Catholic faith and initiation of the child into the sacramental life of the Church. The Eucharist is the greatest gift we have received from Jesus - the gift of himself.
At least two years of religious education are required in preparation for receiving First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. The Churches of St. Michael, St. Mary, and St. Charles will follow this two-year sacramental preparation model beginning in 1st Grade.
Homeschool Families: Homeschool children may attend weekly CGS sessions or parents may choose to provide religious education at home. Please call the Faith Formation Office at 651-351-3175 if your child will receive sacramental preparation through a homeschool program. We will send you correspondence regarding parent meetings, retreats, and celebration of the sacraments.
Public School Families: Several Catechesis of the Good Shepherd sessions are available throughout the week for children ages 3-12. Sacramental preparation is integrated within these CGS sessions.
St. Croix Catholic School: Students enrolled at SCCS will participate in parent meetings and retreats, receiving the sacraments alongside Homeschool and Faith Formation families. SCCS will provide your contact information to the Faith Formation Office, ensuring you receive all correspondence related to the sacramental program.
