Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let Perpetual Light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Funeral Homes

We encourage our parish families to work with a funeral home when planning for a Mass of Christian Burial. Funeral homes help coordinate many logistical elements surrounding a funeral, wake, visitation, and burial. Simonet Funeral Home and Bradshaw Funeral Home frequently assist at the Churches of St. Michael and St. Mary.

Standard Church Fee: $200 for Registered Parishioners. If no funeral director present: $500. For Non-Registered Parishioners: contact Mr. Ned Windnagel (651-439-4400 ext. 249), Funeral Coordinator.

Both our parish staff and the funeral homes we work with are available to answer any questions. The funeral home will often coordinate scheduling with families first and communicate calendaring needs to the parish. Our parish will contact you once the date has been confirmed.

Cemetery

There must be reasonable intention of burial in order for a funeral liturgy to be celebrated in the Church. If you do not yet have a cemetery plot, our affiliated St. Michael's Cemetery in Bayport offers a variety of options.

Pre-Planning
We are created, body and soul, in the image of God. This body is a temple of the Holy Spirit during our earthly days and is worthy of great dignity and honor both during life and after one's death. For this reason, the Church encourages us to celebrate the funeral rite with the departed's body present. “Although cremation is now permitted by the Church, it does not enjoy the same value as burial of the body. The Church clearly prefers and urges that the body of the deceased be present for the funeral rites, since the presence of the human body better expresses the values which the Church affirms in those rites” (Order of Christian Funerals' Appendix on Cremation, no. 413).
